ALP is a program to make life easier for the user to store and access personal security information. In today's world, the average user has about 20 to 30 passwords to remember. When the human mind does not use these passwords on a daily bases they become harder to remember and use. The program is very small (about 32k-bytes). Memory conservation on the Palm PDA is very important to most users. This is why ALP only holds the essential information required to assist in recalling security information.

If your Palm PDA ever loses data
Description:
In the event that your Palm PDA requires a hard reset or your batteries die, you Palm PDA will lose the information stored in memory.
Non Conduit Solution:
The quickest way to ensure data recovery is as follows.
Locate the ALPdbxx.pdb (where xx is the version of ALP you are running) file and ALP.prc file. Double click on these files one at a time to start the Palm install application. The install application should recognize each file and prepare them for the next Hot Sync.
Conduit Solution:
As a conduit user, you can back up in the same manner as non-conduit users. However, if you have used the Conduit Manager to create a current non-encrypted text file of your data, then you may find it is easier to use the Conduit Manager to simply import that data back into ALP.
Non Conduit User Warnings:
You must restore the program and the data with in the same Hot Sync session. If you fail to restore your database and run ALP on the Palm PDA, a new database will be created. Upon next Hot Sync session the new "empty" database will over write the old database. Data loss will occur if this happens.
